After making the biggest socks on earth I wanted to try out making the smallest socks for a baby. I supposed it was a lot easier and less time consuming to make baby socks.
For this pattern I used my absolute favorite book at the moment for making socks: ‘Sokken’, by haken a la Sascha. You can find the book here. I wanted to try out a new pattern and used the ‘locomotive’. The pattern describes that you will need more colors, but I wanted to make socks in one color, because it was already the smallest size. Babies can have really small feet and sometimes they are pretty big, so I always think socks look a bit weird on them but also very cute. I had the idea it would be better if it had one color so you wouldn’t see the shape of the sock that well. Babysocks and right sock sizes are just pretty difficult. I remember my kid had tiny feet and the heel of my son’s socks was somewhere on his calf. It looked weird when this was a different color.
The yarn I used was Lana Grossa Alpaca Peru 200 in the color 212. I found it in the sale at my local store, but you can also buy the yarn here. I used a 4.0 mm crochet needle. You can actually make 2 pair of baby socks with one ball of this wool (if you make size 0-6 months). The pattern was described fine and what I mentioned in one of the previous posts about this book is that when you’ve done one pair of socks you can make them all. I wonder which one I will make in the future.

Nadat ik de grootste sokken ter wereld maakte, wilde ik ook graag de kleinste sokjes eens maken. Het leek me dat een babysokje toch een stuk makkelijker en sneller zou gaan.
Voor het patroon gebruikte ik mijn favoriete boek op dit moment voor het maken van sokken: ‘Sokken’, door haken a la Sascha. Je kan het boek onder andere hier vinden. Ik wilde een nieuw patroon testen en dus gebruikte ik het patroon ‘locomotief’. In het patroon worden eigenlijk meerdere kleuren gebruikt, maar ik heb besloten om de sokjes in één kleur te maken. Ik vind het bij baby’s altijd een beetje lastig. De ene baby heeft smalle voetjes, de andere baby heeft al best grote, dus sokken zitten standaard niet heel goed. Ik dacht, als ik het in één kleur maak, dan valt de vorm van de sok ook niet heel erg op wanneer deze niet echt goed zit. Zo herinner ik me dat mijn zoontje echt hele kleine voetjes had en de hielen van de sokken in het begin op zijn kuit zaten. Dat zag er bij sokken in meerdere kleuren toch een beetje vreemd uit.
De wol die ik gebruikte is Lana Grossa Alpaca Peru 200, in de kleur 212. Ik vond het tijdens een uitverkoop in een winkeltje bij mij in het dorp, maar je kan de wol ook hier aanschaffen. Ik gebruikte een 4.0 mm haaknaald. Van het bolletje dat ik gebruikte kan je twee paar babysokjes haken (als je net als ik de maat 0-6 maanden maakt). Het patroon is prima beschreven en zoals ik al eerder heb verteld over dit boek, wanneer je er eentje gemaakt hebt, dan kan je ze allemaal maken. Ik ben benieuwd welk patroon ik de volgende keer eens zal kiezen.
